Hi! I’m Jose, my family and I began El Terreno with a few dairy goats to promote a healthier lifestyle, now we have extended to a few head of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens to continue that idea. My parents were raised in Mexico with agriculture always being present in their lives, and they wanted me to grow up with the same blessings they had encountered growing up. Being homeschooled gave me the time to work and spend time with our growing herd and helped me realize the wonderful hand of God in His creation. The importance of raising animals and caring for them like our own family is also present in our way of doing things here at El Terreno.

I had always had an interest in Wagyu beef but never thought of raising the breed until a significant opportunity came up with the help of Mrs. Tina Edwardson at Branson Wagyu. Mrs. Edwardson introduced us to the genetics side of Wagyu, and the importance of improving the Wagyu breed. In 2022, our first Wagyu heifer was calved, Esmeralda, a beautiful daughter of Michifuku. As Esmeralda grew, her qualities began to shine, and the opportunity to show her was coming up at the Lonestar Wagyu Invitational. Having no experience in showing, we had to get help and received excellent advice from many great people; to our surprise, Esmeralda won Champion Fullblood Black Heifer and Reserve Champion overall. We give the Glory and thanks to God for all the blessings he has given us and the chance to work and learn from such great people. Soli Deo Gloria!
